Travel plans and your Dog.

Is your sitter going away?

We all make some kind of plan for our vacations. Whether its the summer vacation, or winter getaway, a birthday surprise or your own long weekend, plans need to be made.

Get in early to hold a space for your Dog.

  • First and foremost, please make sure your Dog has a Vet check up with one of our friendly vets in Bathurst.

  • Make sure all the appropriate Vaccinations are up to date.

  • Make sure whom ever is taking on the responsibility of caring for your Dog that all the appropriate information is shared (Preferred vet, Mum & Dads number, health insurance, health details, vaccinations etc).

  • Make an activity plan that has your dog busy and interacting with people as much as you can. Why not enrich your Dogs vacation at home with: a visit from Trainers, a Groomer and a Dog Walker. They'd love to visit with your Dog..

Plan, plan, plan!

You have planned for the ski trip, booked tickets in advance for the plane, booked the cruise or that quiet B&B on the coast...now is the time to plan for what you will do with your Pets.

Work out the pro's and cons of all options available to you in Bathurst. Will it be :

  • Friends

  • Neighbours

  • Relatives

  • A kennel

Or now...

A Dog Check-in service? best check the plans of all of the above and see whats actually available!

Health care plan.

Have you got a health care plan all ready for whoever cares for you Dog?

Illesses, injuries, accidents and other emergencies may happen while you are away. So have an action plan.

Most major health insurance agencies and some specialists offer pet insurance. So give yourself and your pet carer piece of mind and plan ahead for all contingencies.

Flexibilty

Maybe you need to think outside the box!?

Why not combine the help of friends or family and I can do the Bits they can't do!

  • Maybe your fill-in carers cant make it to breakfast (or Dinner)

  • Are your Fill-in carers taking a weekend off?

  • Can your fill-in carers do as much walking as you would normally do?

I can step in for the duties that they can't make, just email a schedule and its done!

Longer term vacations (2 or more weeks)

Where your travels take you away from home for more than 14 days, consider a kennel. The round the clock care they can provide may be more appropriate.

I can help out over longer periods of time, only if there is a close family member that the dog/s know, to come in to play, feed and hang with your Dog/s too!

A once a day visit may not be such a great idea. Please check with me and we may be able to work out a tailor made solution for you and your Dog..

Book early.

Like pretty much everything these days, you have to book in early.

You put the vacation period requests in some time in January, you know the dates of the kids school breaks in the first week of first semester.

So as you book your break take care of your Dogs care and activity schedule while you are away.

Staying at home in familiar surroundings is always a nice option.

Back-up plans!

So it's the week before your well planned vacation. Your family member who was going to care for your Dog at their place is Ill, or the neighbour who was going to look in and feed your Dog is called away for a week, or any other number of strange events conspire to have you looking for a carer.

So think about all the options and preferences available.

  • Family, friends, neighbours.

  • Kennels

  • Your friendly neighbourhood Dog Walker!

Activity plan!

Our Dogs are very special to us, maybe treat tham to something special!?

While you are away how about:

  • A Trainer comes in a couple times. Brush up on some old skills and learn a new trick or two!! Your Dog will love to show you what they have learned!

  • They get pampered with a Mobile Dog wash. The interaction and the full body check by your friendly groomer will add to your piece of mind

  • They have a Dog Walker walk them a couple times a week. Just to get them out of the yard and walking, smelling the roses and having their own adaventure!
