Ralph was a very recently acquired rescue Labrador x
His prospective owner was trialling him, to see if he fit with her family situation.
Ralph is a beautiful boy. very intelligent, a quick learner and very interested and active. His potential owner had literally recieved the call to come pick him up on a Thursday evening and the owner hadnt even had time to settle him in.
So I got to hang with him, while his new mum was at work. We played at home, explored his yard and went for walks to show him around. Ralph is a great dog and people loved him. They'd always want to say hello... he was always excited to see new people but he soon learned to chill and then get all the attention he liked!
Ralph seemed to have been an inside dog and had not had much outside time. He was very very excited with the sites and sounds of the countryside, and got a bit overwhelmed by other dogs, horses, cattle, ducks and all the things we take for granted. We'd sit and watch things that caught his eye, and he soon worked out it was all ok.
I got to hang with Ralph for a number of walks and I would have adopted him myself , but he had to go back because of his arousal levels and excitement around anything other than people. The potential owner wasnt ready for the training and work Ralph would have needed to settle in. hopefully he will find a home with a very energetic family able to spend time orienting him to the great outdoors...I miss Ralph!
