21.06.15 Phil
Phil has covered almost 275km with me on our weekend walks. So I just knew we were about to walk a big one when he was so full of beans!
Today, Phil gave me the hint that he wanted to get going, when he sped out his Doggy-door…with me at the end of the lead! Good one Phil! So we were off at a trot so we sped down the hill, looking for birds as we went.
On the first leg of the walk, we heard more birds than we saw…lots of small birds chirping away. We were listening in on them, but couldn’t quite spot them. Though, when we came to a big open park there was about 15-20 roos basking in the beautiful sunshine. I took some pics from afar, but we decided we’d see if we could take a closer look.
We did get reasonably close. They bounced off into another paddock and mingled with the sheep. Phil and I checked out where they were basking. I showed phil the flat-spots where they were laying about and he got the idea and started sniffing about… he liked that… not sure if he has been around roos before… but he seemed pretty happy to catch their scent.
That was an unplanned diversion to our planned walk so we headed off as quick as we could to make up time. Along the way though, Phil came across quite a number of small birds, maybe finches?, and he really liked that. Of course they were safe in the tall bushes and they were on the other side of a very tall chain-link fence…after a little while Phil wanted to climb the fence (whats with this climbing Phil!?), and once again I wasn’t quick enough to snap a pic of him.
You forget how tall Phil can be when he’s stretched out up a tree or a fence!
It was an up hill climb all the way home, and Phil was just flying up the hill and in fine form…I however was the sandbag again! I started to feel very unfit, but when we got home Phil had a very big drink! So at least he was a little pooped at the end… I hope he slept well in his afternoon nap!
See you next time Phil…
