We all know dogs have their own personalities and Phil and mine seem to mesh very well. Sundays are becoming my walk with Phil day, and always something nice to look forward to after a sleep in after a late-ish shift.
Today i thought we'd take our time to smell the roses. inspired by a post a fellow Dog walker put up online.
I am so glad we did, Phil cottoned on to what i was doing and took full advantage of every scent and sight he could...it was nice to watch him take his time and take in all the scents that came his way.
I wrote once wondering about what goes through dogs minds when they smell and track things... is it a visual memory, is it specific, is it shadowy or is it crystal clear... magpie, cat, person, factory, cars...?
Anyhoo, we strolled along today while Phils snoz was in over load. he got to explore trees and bushes and muddy culverts grassy water courses and a couple of thorny bushes that i couldn't convince hime to watch his nose... but he was fine.
we stood in mud and a but of water, wet ground and long -ish gras... he was having a ball. he was all tail wags today pretty much the whole way. he's always relatively happy, but today was a good day... for us both.
Phil got really excited at finding a family of doves... and we tried to find where they went... this capped off a nice walk...
Thanks Phil... nice walk... we'll bring a water-bottle next scenting day!!
