Billy takes a casual walk…

We all know Billy loves his walks and that he is particularly full of love after the few days break from out last walk. He’ like,’….lets go mike, keep up…oh…but stop here and scratch my ears…!’ Billy has me very well trained, so I do! Though every now and then I get in before him, ‘…oi, Billy, come ‘ere…”, scratch scratch scratch.
The only time I have to say to him,’…no no not here…’, is when he wants to share the love in the middle of the road when we cross! Road awareness isn’t one of Billy’s strengths, but we are working on it.
Today we walked to one of the watercourses that had a dam of water in it a while back now, but it seems it has been drained for the duration. That’s sad, as it was a great place for Billy to cool off and have a little swim. It was easy to access, and there was a grassy bank that we could use that didn’t get too long. Probably from all the other dogs that get to go for a swim there.!
We made good time and we shaded up and had a couple of rests along the way. Billy was feeling particularly energetic today so he wasn’t so eager to rest up. He only sat once in the few rests I offered and dindnt drink too much. The only time he spread out in the shade was when we got home.
So we passed through some shaded areas and a nice open park to get to the dry pond, stopped there and headed home.
Along the way Billy got to pass a few Dogs. Some times he gets a little irritated by small dogs. But when we saw them coming we hung off in the shade and let them go by. Billy did really well and was more keen on keeping on going than to bother with the Dogs. So I am happy about that. I don’t like seeing my fur-friends stressed…
We had a good solid walk that was nicely shaded and made it home not too pooped! Good Job Billy
