It was actually quite cool when we started this morning. A nice change from the warm starts even so early in the morning in the past weeks.
So we headed off in the search for whatever was up and about. Last week we saw more pigeons than you could poke a stick at. This week was a quiet morning for pigeons. Phil seems to like the wagtails and other smaller birds to so he had a peek at a few of those.
What we lacked in quantity today, we made up in quality. Phil and I got quite close to a couple, and a smaller group we came across were very brave and didn’t fly very far… it seems they were used to excited visitors as they just perched well out of reach of Phil as he was running back and fourth. He really does finding his birds!
We did a sort of an odd loop today. Like a big battle-axe! Along the way we had a puncture ( a cats-eye thorn) but we stopped in the pits and had Phil on his way in seconds….none the worse for wear.
We also passed one of the water tanks that are about the place. This one is buried in the ground (and well fenced off) but it was low tide at the tank so we could see right down into it..lots of water weed, but we couldn’t see any fish in there today.
We covered some good ground today… good on ya Phil!
