Hope you all had a Merry Christmas everyone!

For my first Christmas at home for a while I got to check-in on a few of my new friends. A few new faces in there, in and outta town. This year’s Christmas was pretty special as not only did I get to meet 11 new doggy friends, but also 6 cats, 2 horses, a pony and some very friendly chickens!

I was up…with the chickens… all bright and early for the morning outta town feeds and back into town for more breakfast visits and a few walks. The afternoon shift mostly saw check-ins and play to wear out a few of my team for the night, so that was fun…especially the endless games of fetch or chasing one of my new mate who really loved picking up, “sticks” that were 2-3 times her body length and then proceeding to run of with them. Very funny.

As you can imagine, the cats were very easy to cater for. As a dog person I rarely get to hang with cats, but all the cats on my team seemed to accept me with some nice greetings and they were off again.

The horses and pony reminded me of some horse trailing support I did in the US along the Colorado and green rivers (real cowboy country like in the movies, and even Thelma and Louise!) I’m certainly no “horsey-person, but I really get along with my Big friends and can get them from A-B either riding or yarding. So the feeding was just a pleasant morning activity and a great way to start the day. They were always calling me to hurry me up and get breakfast on…so that was nice.

The chickens were very friendly and were pretty hungry girls we’d say hello get the feeder going and check the water, but it has been a cool Christmas, so water and keeping cool wasn’t too big an issue for all of my team.

So It has been a great, and different Christmas for me. It’s been really fun and I think all my team members new and old enjoyed my company.
