He’s such an affectionate boy is our Billy! He hasn’t seen me for a whole week and he was all about the love today. I was having such a good time laughing with (at) Billy… if it wasn’t the adamant stops for pats, it was that crazy tail of his, his determined snuffling, and even jumping up to see inside a locked building…or his funny looks back at me, ‘…what are you laughing at mike…?’
I didn’t think we’d get to cover much ground today as we would stop every few dozen steps for pats. But we got to shade hop, lap some parks and sit in the shade for drinks.
The walk started off with the usual nice welcome…sometimes I like to sit with Billy and he climbs all over me, so we did that today…we headed off out the gate and Billy was already happy. His tail held very high and his ears all pricked up. Billy was in a great mood. I am sure he was hoping for someone to bark at him so he could tell them to get back in their box… but it was very quiet out there today.
As usual, after the initial excitement we settled in to our routine. I would be walking, and Billy would interrupt… even when I zigged and zagged to avoid him blocking me, he’d still win.
There was a lot to smell out there today too. He got very distracted at a few points and was pretty excited about a couple of scents he’d picked up on…and no, none of it was something smelly to roll in…I’m onto you Billy! But he did have a good walk just finding out who has been where …
One of the scents…I’m pretty sure its possums (as its usually a set of trees) and he even gave a bark in excitement… I just laughed at him, and he’s like, ‘…what?’
We stopped under a big shady tree and it was cool with that breeze that was out today… very pleasant. We had a drinks break and I even brought my own along (I don’t bring drinks for me usually, all the water I carry is for my team) and Billy was very interested in that…all but climbing into my bag when I’d finished…another funny Billy moment.
I don’t know about you Billy, but I had a hoot today… thanks for the laughs!
