Billy and I have our first walk for the New Year

I started Billy off a little earlier than we sometimes walk. Trying to take advantage of the cooler morning. It was nice to have the long morning shadows to walk in.

Today we just ambled along. I had no real plan so we just took each turn at random so by the time we got home we had done a weird loopy L-shape. Billy didn’t seem to mind and he really loves his walks.

As it had been a whole week again, since we last walk we sat and had a nice welcome in Billy’s back yard. He is always quietly happy to see me and get all up close for his share of pats and scratches.

For some reason today, there were more dogs in yards in Billy’s street than I ever heard before. Mostly we slip by without much commotion but for some reason, maybe because it was cool the dogs in the street were up and about before the heat of the day. Billy was a bit crazy…well as crazy as he gets, but we managed to walk on by.

The first part of the walk didn’t have too much shade, but Billy stopped me to some pats as he usually does. Sometimes, stopping me again after only a few paces. He probably though I wasn’t paying him quite enough attention!

We made it to a nice shady spot and had a drink and a rest.

Its not often I give out snacks or treats. But I happened to have some in my bag and I thought Billy might like one. He pretty much gulped that down and was looking for more! No more mate… I can’t be spoiling you too much, you’ll start to expect it! I had put away the treat bag in my back pack and didn’t zip the compartment up, and at one point he just about dived in head first into the back pack pocket with his head almost disappearing. Funny boy!

After the rest water and treat, we headed off again and wound our way back through the shady trees, sharing some pats and off home again.

It was great to see you again Billy…next walk you will have passed 190km! Wow!
