Sniffing sneezy flowers with Billy

Billy and I have done a similar sort of walk over the past few trips, one was just a reverse loop of the other. Billy never really minds where we go, so he’s easily pleased. I did want to checkout the earthworks for the new development, but the grass was a little long. We would probably have been fine (re: snakes…but I like Billy just the way he is… with no bites…or fleas and ticks in the long grass.
So we went off up along the main road where Billy was sniffing so hard at some flowers, he went into spasms of sneezing. After he regained his composure we walked along another road to the base of a hill. I asked Billy if he wanted to go all the way to the top of the hill, ‘… or should we skirt around it?’ Billy looked at me like, ‘… pffft, you have to ask!?’ he does give me odd looks sometimes!
Plus, as was clear, there was more shade the way we went so in the end it made sense.
We shaded up at a little over the halfway point and had our usual rest and a drink break. Billy was pretty thirsty and even flopped down for a little while. Until he remembered that the other day, I had treats in one of the compartments of my back pack. He was eyeing me and looking at my bag, then eyeing me again as he’d snuffle around the zippers of my back pack! ‘…no Billy, no treats today, that was just a special treat…’
He wasn’t real keen on that answer, but he seemed to cope well, ‘..in that case lets get going…’
Today seemed to have all my team, intent on being heads down and butts up… there seemed to be lots to smell out there today. I get to walk in different areas, so it wasn’t on just one walk!
We headed back the way we came, stopping only to cross the road a few times. Billy, as usual had bailed me up for pats and scratches, but what would a walk with Billy be, if it wasn’t about sharing the love.
Another nice walk with my mate Billy.
