Apparently Muriel had a big day yesterday at the river… swimming and wading and playing in the river. Not being the spring chicken she used to be, she was a slow starter this morning. But by the time I got there she was as full of beans, waggly-tailed and carrying her lead out to me… she patiently waited for us to start, but she was ready to rocket off. There’s no stopping Muriel!
We trotted off and I was going to try and take it easy on Muriel today, but as usual she was trotting along with no concessions to the tiring day before. I still took a flatter option and we headed off along a nice cycleway.
It seemed very busy today. Lots of people enjoying the cool of the morning. Lots of cyclists and walkers and a few folks with other Dogs. Muriel and I met up with someone walking their Dog and as we chatted briefly Muriel was very polite and said hello to the young pup.
We headed off and I was thinking we may have been slower than usual. But Muriel is a very deceptive walker. I looked at my watch and were were making good time. We stopped in the shade for a little rest, but Muriel was keen to keep going. She was feeling very sociable, and there were a lot of people to say hello to.
We headed home not too far short of our usual distance so once again…Muriel was charging along.
The walk back was very pleasant and I walked a little slower and Muriel took me up on it this time (thank goodness!... I like a slow walk too you know!). So we plodded along and took in the sights and interesting smells along the grassy area and the fenceline. Lots of activity along there according to Muriel.
We were making such good time home that I had to add another small loop in there. I tell you Muriel is unstoppable!
When we got home Muriel had a nice cool drink and layed out on the cool concrete for belly rubs…Muriel definitely has the life!
