Over the past weeks I have been hanging out with the timid Sammy. Her family and friends are all helping to make Sammy feel comfortable around new things and different situations. Sammy is a wonderful girl and once she gets to know you she is very affectionate.

Sammy and I have been getting along just fine. We have had a few small walks a lot of just chilling and lots of pats. So I think I have made Sammy’s inner circle! She even gave me a very excited welcome and we played chase for a little while…I hadn’t seen Sammys funny side, but today she started off very happy. We got to calm down and chill and I thought we’d practice some things from her class and she was great…did everything we needed to do and she was ready to go for a walk!

Today I got to take Sammy for a nice long walk, we even had a young friend along that had wanted to meet Sammy and come along for a walk too. Naturally we introduce people slowly with lots of support and encouragement and of course Sammy took to everyone quickly, so that was awesome!

Sammy, Alice and Myself set off for a small walk just in case we needed to get home. But Sammy was keen to keep going. We covered a nice long distance and we had a rest stop in the shade and to have a drink. It was warm out so Sammy had done a good workout and was very thirsty so she liked the idea of me carrying water and a bowl. I didn’t expect her to take a drink but she did, so I was very happy about that!

We’d decided to keep going and take a slightly longer way back to Alice’s place and Sammy had another drink. So she was definitely getting a workout today. By the time we got home she was pretty pooped, so todays distance was good for her. I think next time we will go a little further…I know Sammy will be able to do it!

We had a drink and flopped in the shade together and had some ear scratches and belly rubs, and by the time I was walking off out the gate, Sammy didn’t seem to want me to go…! I love it when “My” Dogs enjoy themselves and that they get to do more things that they think they couldn’t… well done Sammy!
