Billy and I started a little later than usual, so it was warmer than usual, but we stuck to shade hopping and a couple drink breaks and a few rest stops. Billy didn’t seem to worried either way… he was more concerned about the snacks in my pack!
The coolest part of our walk, well I thought so!, was that we got to walk my favourite fenceline walk. The council had slashed the vacant land between farm land and houses. So it was all ready to go. Even Billy was a bit excited, we haven’t been down here for a while now. The grass was a little long so we steered clear.
I had been wanting to take Billy along this walk for a while now as I wanted to see how the development was going. I was not too surprised when we got to what is our first creek crossing and there were monster trucks leveling out what was pretty soil eroded land and readying it for some more new homes. It was pretty interesting watching an earth mover scraper thing at work. Billy didn’t mind having a look as we stopped under a nice shady tree!
So we didn’t get too far along that walk before we had to turn back. That wasn’t so bad as we were out in the bright sun for the most part so heading for some shady sections was my next plan. I really like some different areas around the place, there are a lot of trees to shade-hop not far from Billy’s place so we did that and stopped for a drink at the first shady spot we came a cross.
Billy did think that first stop was a good idea as he flopped in the shade and had a drink and a muzzle through my bag. I didn’t realise it (but Billy sure did), but the bag of dried snacks I had been carrying had opened in my back pack and Billy could smell them. So there was no hiding from Billy what was in the bag.
For his efforts and his persistence in letting me know the bag had opened, I thought I had better share with Billy! We kept on going and found some more alley ways that link from the streets to one of the water courses and that provided us with a shortcut back home.
Its always nice to know my team are having fun, but its even nicer to have them shade up at home just a little pooped from their walk. Good job Billy, enjoy those shady trees at home!
