Phil was very glad to see me this morning, but he was even more happy that it was a Friday! Maybe he has big plans!!? Phil had a wagging tail and a big smile pretty much the whole way on our walk.

Normally we have Sundays all to ourselves. The streets are pretty quiet, we see a few people and a few Dogs, but that’s about it. But today was busy busy busy. Kids walking by, heading off to school, some Mums and dads tagging along, lots of vehicles and buses dropping kids off. Then there were the walk before work, walkers and those out walking their own dogs before the day’s activities.

Even though all this was going on around us, Phil still found lots to keep him occupied. We all know Phil is a keen gardener and birdwatcher and there was something very exciting in one persons hedge. I am not sure what was in there, but we spent a fir bit of time exploring the ins and outs of the bushes. I didn’t see or hear any small birds, and Pigeons don’t usually hang out in bushes that thick, but he was determined to find whatever it was that was in there.

We eventually kept on going and made our way on a pretty big loop we were planning. We followed a walking path for a while and made good time, so instead of taking a short cut we walked towards a point that takes us a long way from home. Though along the way we got to see some horses grazing in the morning sunshine. What was peculiar after the hunt-in-a-hedge episode came to nothing, Phil was very excited to see a cat , as it streaked across the grassy watercourse. I haven’t seen Phil want to chase any cats, but I am sure the kitty wasn’t too keen to find out whether Phil was a nice guy or not!

So we followed the watercourse to the intersection of another path and scooted along that towards home. Phil was unlucky enough to find a cats-head thorn, so a quick pit-stop had that fixed. He’s such a funny Boy! I saw Phil limp twice and tried to get him to stop but he wanted to keep going, ‘… yes Phil, I know you’re tough, but lemme fix it… ‘, he did stop for a sec, we cleared the paw, and off he went tail wagging, speeding off up the Hill. Phil was still in such a good mood he just wanted to keep going!

It wasn’t until we were almost home that we got really close to a couple of pigeons, so Phil was still excited about those guys even when we got home! Phil actually looked pooped today and he did drink a lot, so I’m guessing it was quiet in the Phil household for a little while today…!

Nice walking today Phil, and Happy Friday!!
