It was a sunny late afternoon so I though a walk to the river would be a great idea! Scarlett had a bit of a trim so I thought maybe she’d like to have a swim and cool off at the end of the day.
So we set off with destination number 1 a favourite little pool and pebbly riffle, in mind. It looked as though the swimming spot may have been busy, but by the time we made it to the water’s edge we had the place to ourselves. I set up an extend-lead and headed for the water.
Scarlett wasn’t so excited to see the water. She did step into it with all-fours, but wasn’t too fussed about going in to cool off. We walked around to see if there was any section of the swimming hole she liked, but it seemed she was happy to keep on hitting the trail.
So we hiked up to the pathway to see how far along it we could get. It was a sunny afternoon and people and their pets were starting to come out. Walkers, Joggers, families cycling and others playing in the park. We kept right on, heading into the sun and skipping along in the shady spots where we could. We passed a nice scenic windmill and took some shots and found a nice shady spot on the path to have a rest and a drink.
As usual, Scarlett isn’t a thirsty walker, so we sat and had a back scratch or two and watched as the shadows stretched out on the path and into the paddocks.
We pretty much turned for home from a point further along than we had been before, even though we visited the river for a play first. So maybe next time we walk this way, we will head for the swimming hole at the end of the path… judging by todays effort, we’ll make it easy!
On the way back we saw even more joggers and walkers and more people and puppys, all coming down to the riverside for a cool afternoon walk. It’s always nice to take a walk with Scarlett and she always loves to have a look and sniff about. Getting out and about always puts a spring in Scarlett’s step…see you next time Scarlett, have a great week!
