Leo and Sadie are new to the team, so we are still exploring all the pathways we can walk along, where they go, and other pathways they meet. So we headed off to a destination a nice distance from home and along the way we met some farm friends. We also practiced some skills we have been learning at school. Leo and Sadie went well, but I lagged a little and may need more training!
We headed off and passed some rambunctious doggy neigbours and we passed by them quite well with a leave skill ( At least I remembered this time! ) Leo and Sadie did pretty good and we walked by.
By the time we reached one of the walkways we were well on our way and although we tangle up sometimes, we were walking on the lead well. So we made good time to where some cattle sometimes live and said hello.
I haven’t seen Leo and Sadie near livestock, but I don’t like noise makers or those that get too excited too close. We did make it relatively close for a first time and although Leo was a little apprehensive the cattle were quite happy and wanted a closer look at Leo and Sadie. That was a little too much and Leo and Sadie started to walk away… so that was a good move and we went off and looked from a distance again. So they did very well.
I am sure that the cattle see all manner of Dogs where they live, so they barely even cared!
So we went off up a hill for a while and Sadie called a time out. So we rested in the shade that Sadie picked out for us all and had a drink. Nice call Sadie!
The walk home was a long hill climb and we passed the cattle again and Sadie and Leo weren’t as interested as before… seen one cow…you’ve seen them all I guess! But we did pass some more noisey neighbours. This time we were practicing that all though theres a lot of noise, barking, and lots of banging and crashing from another Dog… its really not all that interesting after the first lil while. We then passed some Dogs that Leo and Sadie could see andwe left them alone, after showing some interest and then walking off by them selves… and did even better when we came up on some more dogs… this time we stopped for a sec, had a look…I waited, then they led the way Home.
Well done Leo and Sadie! That first one was a tough one… but we did very well. Way to Go Leo and Sadie… see you soon… can’t wait to practice more of those class lessons!
