Today I got to walk a new friend that has joined the Team… Mr Copper! He’s a very energetic boy who usually gets a big workout run with his family, but I get to step in for a little while. Awesome!

So Copper…, How to describe him even though I just met him? He is a 2 year old Healer and loves to skate board, play fetch, catch and loves a pump-action water blaster shot in his direction and loves grasshoppers!

How did I find all this out in just one walk? Well we met the other day and he showed me around the place. He showed off one of his skateboards and rope toy… the rest I worked out today!

Copper brought the skateboard to me and showed me his mad-skillz. He pushes it around with his snoz, and brings it back if you push it along the path. He can do tail kicks and isn’t far off learning how to ride it! There were also some water pistols and of course I tested out what he did with those… and of course …if you shoot them at him he snap-grabs at the jet of water!

You just know I could do that all day… apparently Copper would too if I let him… But off to business…it was a walk we were here for…!

We did a few little drills that I have picked up from Eryn at Ashaari Canine Academy just so we didn’t pull and that he could sit by me when asked… He actually did those…plenty to work on, but for the purposes of this walk he did great. I heard that he has some noisy fur-friends as neighbours and he gets a bit excited…

So we got to the noisy neighbours and I tried a new thrick I am working on, and we just stopped by the noise maker until we were pretty calm… well.. less enthusiastic. Copper even came and sat by me once so I was happy enough with that. We did the same by another dog and we worked out, that’s Dogs barking is just boring and repetitive!

So we headed off up the road. We practiced walking along side me…apparently his mum runs with him… but my ol arthritic knees are past that kind of fun, so we just sped along at a safe n sane 5-6km/hr I do for my Fast dogs! Copper, of course ate that up!

But what was cool was the fact that we stirred up lots of grasshoppers in the early evening sunshine… Copper seemed to have loved chasing them… but when I caught one he wasn’t so interested… thrill of the chase I guess… so as excited as he was, no grasshoppers were harmed in the making of this walk!

We had a pretty packed short walk… just to get to know each other… I’m sure Copper will provide lots of stories for our walks together!
