Leo and Sadie got to meet a lot of Dogs today! So we had lots of practice being quiet and sitting! Sure there were times we all got a bit excited, but they did pretty well. Leo and Sadie have been working hard at school, and we get to practice skills out on our walks.

Leo and Sadie have a big excited welcome for me when I arrive. They now know to listen out for my footsteps up the drive and by the time I am unlocking the gate they are bouncing about. Today we tried to calm down first and then lots of Pats. Leo is doing well at these lessons, but since Sadie took time off from school to have pups, she fell behind a bit and Leo had more time to practice.

We did our calm down and then hooked up our leads and off we went. No matter which way we go there are hills! I’m not a fan of the Downhills, but there are just as many up hills to even it all out! Leo and Sadie didn’t seem to mind either way and they plugged along, pretty much unstoppable.

I mentioned before, that we are exploring the backstreets and shortcuts around their place to see where we can go for our walks… so there is a bit of exploration for us and poking around what streets lead where, and what parks are about. There are a few streets I’d like to include in a loop around, as they have some very very steep walkways. That’d be a big work-out for sure…we’ll work up to that I think!

We exited the backstreets and walked along a grassy pathway and that was quite nice. We had a nice view and it wasn’t too hot so we made good time. As we walked, I was making note of all the options we might have in future and saw where some roads led to. So there are lots of options of where to walk.

We met with some more fur-friend neighbours and had some practice at trying to be calm. Though, we had been having a pretty good work out on that one today, so we headed back along the grassy path aiming for a park with some shady trees to sit under and have a drink. Sadie liked that Part and Leo was showing a softer side by taking all the ear scratches I was giving out. Hes such a quiet boy really, but he happy for the pats!

We headed off from our shady rest break base camp and scaled the nice big hill we had left for last! By the time we got home, two very pooped staffy’s flopped in the shade. They didn’t even see me off at the gate, so they must have had a workout today. See you both next time!
