Zoe and Joe... on a Friday morning walk....

Zoe Joe and I did a big loop today. Starting off with a walk in the ‘burbs cross a creek down hills then up again. So we arrived home pretty pooped. Zoe looked like she could go again (she always does!) and Joe pretty much flopped in the shade,’… I’m done Mike… you can go now!’
I do like to wear Joe out, if only for the fact that he is less likely to use himself as a Doggy barricade, that tries to stop me from leaving. He won’t say it, but I think he likes me! Zoe is not so backward in coming forward. No matter where we are, if we stop for a rest or a water break, she just wants to land lots and lots of face licks! She’s so awesome!
The fun started off with a short walk along a cycleway and we jogged through some back streets to a bridge over a water course. We stopped to take in some gardens and take a peek into yards. Everyone was behaving so no need for Zoe and Joe to sort any one out! We did cross some very noisy neighbours along the way… and lots of them too. But Zoe and Joe are so good (I’m very proud of them), they looked at them, maybe thought to themselves, ‘…Meh!’, looked back at me and we continued on…
We headed off for the downhill slope and stopped for water halfway down. Zoe and Joe weren’t too thirsty so it was only a quick pit-stop, and away we went. We cruised along the the flat and I asked Zoe and Joe if some trees were thinking its autumn already? Lots of leaves around the place… though I guess it could also be water stress too? Zoe and Joe didn’t really come up with much but they did tell me it made for cool smells, rustling leaves and we spooked one of those big skinks hiding under the foliage. Zoe and Joe saw it, but it dived into that “sink-hole” I was telling them to be careful of… One of my other team members Phil and I found it a couple weeks ago… so we were wary.
So we rustled through more leaves and them started heading off up the hill. We had made pretty good time in the cool of the morning but by the time we started the big long climb Joe was starting to regret the pace he’d set earlier! So we just backed off the pace and took our time. There’s never really any hurry, so we set a pace that didn’t require too many rest breaks.
By the time we were nearly home, Joe was keen on a couple of short-cuts, so he led the way and we arrived home a couple of pooped Boxers and walker, so we shaded up, had a drink and that was us for the day. Big walk guys!
