Copper and I are going to be walking buddies for a little while so we went out to see what we could see. He has probably seen all there is to see, but its all new to me. So Copper was showing me around.

I was planning just a loopy explore around where Copper lives and we really only got halfway on a loop and we discovered an alley way that led to an open space. There was a hil and on top of that was a trig point… so those of you who know me, by now know, that I can’t leave a hill unexplored! So off we went!

Being a trig point means it’s a lil bit higher than most points around so we may have a view as a reward. Copper led the way and was interested in some birds on top of the trig, but by the time we clambered up the hill they were long gone. When we got to the top, more hills opened up to one side, houses on the other and views all around, ‘…so this is where we are…!’

Although it was new to me, and maybe not so new to Copper, he was all tail wag, puffed up tail and ears pricked the whole way. Getting out of the yard and having a look around is always fun for our Dogs and Copper was definitely interested in the sights sounds and smells.

We even practiced some skills like not getting too excited when other dogs in their yards are being noisy. He has been walking by but seems more interested in where we will go next… so that’s a good thing! I am not sure if he has had lessons, but he is a smart boy!

After we topped the hill and went down one of the sides, I finally realized where we were (don’t forget, I’m not really a local… but all my team are showing me all the tricky lil paths and parks and cool walks to do) and we continued an exploration of the backend of the hill we climbed. We looped around the bottom of the hill but had to climb up again to head home.

We did a backstreet shuffle and headed home for a rest and a shady break… and of course the water bucket. Even I needed a drink after this one. So Copper and I sat by the water bucket and the sun was starting to go down… I threw the ball near his skateboard… but he looked at me like, ‘… I’m happy here in the shade!’, good effort Copper!
