Diesel: Good to have you back lil mate!

Since Diesel has been off to school and I have been the taxi driver, we haven’t had the chance to walk together for a long long while now. I always like my Diesel-time and was looking forward to seeing how the lessons have gone for him.

It may not seem like much to most people, but a few lessons here and there all add up. I won’t say Diesel is a different Dog, as he is always that energetic and loveable crazy boy, but he has it on a slower burn now… he is calm and relaxed when all the new and different sights sounds and smells pass us by as we walk. Its so nice to see him taking in everything around him and enjoying things.

As always he is quick to play… and we are silly and wrestle and jump around… but he doesn’t look like he’s about to pop with excitement!

So we used up all this newly channeled energy by actual structured play! We went to a playground and quickly used some steps… a rickety rocky bridge crossing, a slide and some more steps while no-one was watching and he just loved it. A long while ago I took him on the same apparatus and he was a bit scared of the rickety bridge… but we ran across it a couple of times just coz we could.

Then we headed off to the park and enjoyed a stress free casual walk and we sped across the grounds to the skate park where Diesel followed me up and down some of the terrain and then off to the river. He is even more inquisitive now in a more determined manner… not just crazily flitting about… we investigate smells and take them in… its just great to see.

The final big thing I wanted to see was how the noise and very busy highway was on him now. The noise and activity was quite overwhelming before, now he takes it in his stride. We stopped and sat…and even lay down at the pedestrian crossings! So that was nice to see. Such a clever, calm boy now… still with that impish smile he gets.

Good Job Diesel. It’s great to have you back for a lil while. Woo Hoo!
