Riley and a rascally rabbit!

Today I wanted to take Riley in a totally different direction. We had been sort of mimicking his usual walks as I know he likes his familiar routes. The last few times I have added a different direction or followed only a part of his usual walks. But today we went off into the burbs around his place...and it worked out pretty well!

Even though we have only had a few walks together, I think Riley has worked me out as that crazy guy that walks me everywhere except in a straight line! I’m happy with that…always keep them guessing Riley!

I mentioned that with a couple of my newest team members, I have been exploring the streets and alleyways of their own suburb to find parks and open spaces that we can include in loops for future walks and alternatives.

You never really know what you will find. My team always have a nose for the funnier side of things and if something interesting is to be found…they will find it!

So you all know I’m easily pleased… give me a shady grove of trees and an island of cushy comfy grass and I’m happy. Riley was adamant about taking me and showing me some nice rest spots, but I was always like,’…next one mate !’ So we found one very nice spot and sat for a drink and a stretch and suddenly Riley’s ears pricked and he stoof up, as a Rabbit (a well groomed and coiffed one… not a feral one… left out from under a nearby tree and ran into what I hoped was their own backyard!

See what happens when you take paths less travelled Riley. He was very happy about seeing the rabbit, and although pretty excited, didn’t lose his cool…as we both watched the furry dude run off home…

Again, we didn’t really go too far from home as the crow flies… but with all the (steep) hills and convoluted streets we covered some solid kilometers in our meandering. Riley must have enjoyed himself as when we were trying to head for home he was finding lots of interesting things along the way and dawdling on the return journey!

Good walking again today Riley…though I can’t guarantee rabbits on every walk…!
