Today was the first walk I have done with the very clever boy Sam! I say clever as he spends a lot of time at school… and is therefore so much smarter than me, and knows all the tricks. Sam took it easy on me though, and I didn’t mess up too much. We did a backstreet exploration for our first walk, It had some hills and nice flat bits in between. We covered a nice distance today even though we were being pretty casual.
I have seen Sam at school when I drop a few of my team off for their lessons. We have said hello and I always get a nice happy welcome with lots of tail wags. Today though, I got to take Sam for a walk. We were up and out the gate pretty early, so that was a nice way to start the day. It wasn’t too hot, but after the rain, the humidity was already getting sticky.
I didn’t really have plan for Sam… just to zig and zag around the place and try to find more links to the walk I found yesterday with Copper. I wanted to see if I could remember where we went, from a different direction.
Sam keeps up a good pace and likes to investigate as many things as he can. I was probably a bit more lenient than his Mum, but we still got where we were going and had fun doing it. Sam is a very proficient and efficient walker too, so we pretty much covered what I thought we might in quick fashion… so we did a bit of a pretzel loop and explored more streets.
Sam was pretty happy with himself as we walked along, we shared some pats and scratches, but it was pretty much all business today. Sam did check in on me to see if I knew where we were going and he seemed convinced that I did, so kept on going!
It didn’t seem like we were too far away from home, but with all the looping and pretzelling we did we covered a nice distance. When we finally got home Sam jumped into his pool for a cool off and a splash. Last I saw of Sam he was heading for his shady spot under cover… he didn’t see me off at the gate, so I take it he was pooped… that that’s pretty good for a first walk. Well done Sam…see you again soon.
