Billy

Billy and I just headed off on a wander along the cycleways today. We had lots of things to investigate after all the rain and we checked in to make sure everyone was behaving. No one had escaped from their homes and we didn’t see anyone wanding about that shouldn’t have been.

We set off today as a bit of a “recky” to see how things were after all the rain. Billy lives along one watercourse and we might check on that one next time, but I wanted to see haow the giant swale that is a lil way up the road, went in the quick deluge! So we quick-stepped it up to that and to my suyrprise it was completely empty! But you could see how deep it was by the debris markers lining the “High-Tide” mark.

Again, it would have been 1.6 – 1.8 m deep in some spots so it definitely would have had a lot of water in it. I am sure Billy would have loved to have seen such a big swimming hole so close to home. But we wouldn’t have been able to go in. In another life I used to do swiftwater rescues… and drains and heavy rain are quite dangerous… so it would have looked great,,, but alos a bit scary too. So we missed out on that!

We continued off Up the hill. Under the trees we saw lots of rain-pelted leaves and bark and little sheet runnels of water that left ripple marks in the leaf needles and sandy soil. We continued further along and jumped on a cycleway. We had a bit of a break at the top and had a wander around up there, before looping back and headed towards home.

Its always nice to have a walk with Billy and today was fun for me to check everything out after the rain we had. Billy didn’t seem to mind about me stopping to have a look at things… it gave him more time to sniff and snuffle about!
