Phil and I did a lap of the “city” today. Lots of sticky-beaking to do when your path passes lots and lots of people’s homes. Open gates, low fences and driveways are all invitations to Phil to come and have a look! What was fun though, was that when we got to a nice park, there were a lot of pigeons to stalk up on… all that running about had us pooped by the time we got home.

Today I had a plan to see how far we could get into town and still make it home on time! So we headed off determined to make a pretty good distance and take a peek around town.

There weren’t too many pigeons about so we had to amuse ourselves with admiring gardens and open gates…of which there were plenty. Our route also took us past a few fur-friends that were making noise about our passing, but we motored on.

So we made it into the main streets of town walking along several blocks before I had the great idea of heading towards a park that is getting some refurbishments. We did a lap of that just to see how things were going, we are both stick-beaks really! On the last leg of the lap Phil spotted a few pigeons a fair way away so we took our time and stalked our way up then we took off.

Phil loves it when we do that and gets very excited and happy. We then saw some more and did the same again. Phil takes his stalking seriously, so we calmed down and ran up on some more. He was so excited he did some quiet happy barks… then we saw some more… we were pretty happy and excited still so we just ran after them from a position that gave them more than enough time to flit away!

It’s always nice to see my team members having such a great time. Whether its pigeons, ducks, grasshoppers, swimming or whatever… it’s always fun. Though when you have so much fun running about, and we still were only 2/3rds of the way home and it was all uphill!

By the time we were 1/2 way up we were both pretty pooped, and the pace slowed right down! But we got home in time and Phil had a big drink and stretched out on some tiles to cool off! Great walk today Phil!
