11.03.15 Diesel

Diesel’s mum asked me if I could take Diesel to the dog park and practice recall. So we had a nice afternoon, amongst shady trees in a nice safe area, that I could let Diesel “off- the-leash”!

Diesel and I have been mates for a while now so we have a routine. We both jumped into the taxi and drove off. Diesel loves a car-ride… he gets a good look around, even if it is only other cars, trucks and buses… but Diesel seems to enjoy taking in all the sights.

So we drove to the park and made it through the safety fences and I let Diesel off. Now for those that know of Diesel, you’ll understand that Diesels level of excitement can get high, and its quite contagious.

But plan A today was to let Diesel “go-mad” for a little while and then start calling him back every now and then. So I sat down in a nice cool shady spot and just let him run about like the mad-boy he is. Its also quite cute, as once again, he’d look back to see if I was watching.

We didn’t try too hard or do too many recalls as I didn’t want to overload him, and he was having fun anyway. I did call him back a few times and after thinking about things he’d come running and crashing into me!

We also got to sit in the shade together and share some pats. Diesel definitely likes company and when he was pooped spent more time with me than galavanting around.

Today went really well, but we didn’t have other dogs or people about. Diesel is a very social boy and likes everyone, so he is just itching to say hello. But not every one can handle so much Diesel exuberance!

For what it’s worth though, he did well and seemed to have fun, and was pooped by the end with all the laps of the park he did!

So for all those folks out there that have a ball of energy for a pet, there is hope. Diesels mum organizes as many activities as she can for her important lil boy. All that effort is resulting in a more confident boy that can be calm when he needs to but still can be cheeky in only the way Diesel can!

Love ya work Diesel…well done.
