Zoe and Joe

11.03.15 Zoe and Joe.

By the time I got to my team members Zoe and Joe, it was quite warm today. But as usual they were happy to see me. We took it easy, had lots of shady breaks and drank lots of water. We were all pretty pooped when we got home though… good to have a big deep bucket of cold water handy!

So we headed off sticking to grassy trails where we could to avoid hot paws. We also passed a road works too so we avoided them just in case furry paws sticks to curing road “glue”! It was interesting though…all the workers, big machinery activity and bit of noise was worth a look. I doubt Zoe and Joe were enthralled by the engineering behind road building, but they did like seeing everyone busy.

We followed the paths today, but walked up along side them to hunt down the shady spots. Zoe and Joe have walked with me for over 300km now so we make a good team. Joe is on the look out for shady sections to either walk in or for a rest. Very clever boy! So we followed the paths and just took our time.

We stopped for a good break at the halfway point and shaded up under a tree with some nice grass under it. We took some happy snaps, drank most of the water I had, Zoe and Joe dive bombed me (so it couldn’t have been too hot!), and off we went!

The walk home was a slog. Joe was calling time out a few times so we all went with it… he does pick the best spots available, so we made use of the breaks too. It was a long climb so we took our time getting to the top.we had a couple of little breaks but when we got home it was every boxer for themselves to the water bucket! Surprisingly they didn’t drink too much, so we must have had the right amount of drinks breaks along the way… but the nice cold concrete was belly-flop city and we all just lay there! Yes… I joined them too. I didn’t get dive bombed…so we must have been pooped!
