13.03.15 Fergus and Zara
Fergus and Zara took me out for a walk very early this morning. Yet another “alpine start” to the day. We took a direct roadside route today and sped along without too much worry about bumping into Kangaroos!
In another life “alpine starts” were de-riguer and came part and parcel of trying to get somewhere that took a bit of effort, and little time to do it in. So you do the easy bits in darkness ie access and exits in the dark leaving the tricky bits with as much light as the day would allow!
We weren’t off on any extreme adventures today, but it was nice to come back after our walk to relax and watch the sun rise from a good vantage point. Always worth getting up early for!
Fergus, Zara and I took off in darkness again, this time I did use my headlamp, but moiré for indicating to oncoming traffic we were about…and yes I had my bright orange and reflective striped vest on! The light was actually a little annoying for my team so I only used it a few times!
Fergus and Zara are great walkers. I picked a roadside pathway to see how far we could scoot along. My new team members did quite well and we covered some ground very quickly. It was slightly downhill for the most part so that made for a nice easy start to the walk.
The walk home was a little slower with the uphill return and the good distance we went out! Fergus and Zara are very lucky… I have a ration of treats for them for the “turnaround” or halfway point. As you would imagine, I forgot the small treats in my pockets, but Zara reminded me and Fergus was like…yeah… were past halfway! So I apologized and dished out the rations!
Two very happy retrievers!
We made it home with no trouble, and we hung out a bit for pats and scratches. But they were more interested in their wading pool! I hope you enjoyed you walk this morning and that you enjoy the day ahead!
