16.03.15 Ji
Today Ji and I headed off in the opposite direction to take a peek at the sunset on the other side of the hill.
Ji gave me another warm welcome today, and we harnessed up and headed off out the gate again. Ji is always excited to have a walk around, so I thought we’d make the most of the time we had and we set off at a good trot.
The other day we went “Downstream” along the watercourse so today we headed “upstream”. We were chasing the sunset, but I was a bit slow in getting to Ji’s place so the sunset was sinking rapidly in the west. We still made it just as the sun sank behind the orange skies over Orange! It was still pretty nice so we had a bit of a stare off to the horizon…. Pretty sweet hey Ji?!
On the way up one of the “tributaries” of the watercourse, Ji heard some noise coming from somewhere that got his attention. I asked him what he could hear and he said shhh… so I listened too. Apparently Ji likes percussion! There was someone practicing the drums, and as we went further up the hill we could hear it better. The drummer was quite good actually. Ji was happy to listen for a lil while, and we continued on.
On our way back we tried to get closer to the drums, but they were a block or so away from the watercourse… maybe we’ll try and find them another time Ji!
The drummer didn’t seem to scare off the birds. We saw more magpies in one area than I have seen for a long time, must have been a good grub hunting ground! There were also a lot of galahs too, screaking and squarking, the magpies warbling and the drummer still going, so there was a lot to listen to.
Ji is such a happy boy! Every now and then I’d call a halt to our walk for pats and scratches and he’d be all bouncy and happy, just glad to be out in the cool early evening. We still made good time and covered a good distance.
