16.03.15 Zoe and Joe
Today I thought I would treat Zoe and Joe to some duck watching! They don’t get too excited about too many things but when it comes to ducks…they get very excited and wanting to go and say hello!
Zoe and Joe always have a happy welcome for me… but I wanted to make a quick escape from the yard so we could go duck watching. It wasn’t all that far to the duck pond, but I also wanted to head off down the creek a ways further and see what we could see.
Zoe, Joe and I headed off up the hill along the cycle/walking paths and crossed the roads and walked into the “duck-pond park”. Zoe and Joe weren’t really onto me until we were right up on the pond. I had pointed out that there was galahs and cattle egrets, but they were too busy snuffling about!
We made it all the way to the waters edge before they realised what I had been talking to them about! There were about 10-15 Ducks maybe a dozen galahs and the one lone egret and they were all smart enough to keep walking in the opposite direction to the Boxers! The Galahs gave up and flew into the trees pretty quick, the ducks waddled quicker and quicker and the egret stuck it out for a while. Joe really liked the Egret!
We didn’t get much further around the pond when they all took off leaving Zoe and Joe to snuffle about.
We did manage to make it all the way along the creek. There wasn’t too much exciting to report from there, except that it was a nice walk in the cooler weather. We made it home without too much excitement. Well except for Joe…he was full of beans for some reason or another and was bouncing all the way home…like we hadn’t walked anywhere at all. I did take solace in the fact that Zoe and Joe did dive into the water bucket for a drink….well… at least they were a lil pooped after all that walking!
