31.3.15 Riley
What a hoot Riley was today! He always seems so determined to go his own way, that I thought I might just let him!
I have been walking Riley for a little while now and sometimes he is a hard boy to read. He is a very shy Dog and likes to keep to himself. I also never quite know if he is having as much fun as I am…but then he’ll dive into some inviting green grass and roll about in it! So he’s enjoying himself in his own way!
Last walk we did I pretty much was the boss and took Riley on one of the walks furthest away from home. I suspect Riley is a home body so isn’t so keen on walking too far away from home. So today when faced with options on turns, or which path to take, I let Riley work out the way to go.
It was a very interesting walk today. As I suspected, he doesn’t like to wander too far away from home. What we lacked in distance from home we made up for in big long laps of a couple of parks with some loops inside those. It was actually quite a nice walk!
Riley is very determined about where he would like to head and what to do! We made our way through lots of fallen leaves, visited his favourite grassy cricket oval and also taking a couple of laps of a pond and all the way back to the cricket oval again. He’s so funny!
He got to get his paws wet and sink in some boggy wet grass around the pond. Riley seemed to like that a lot judging by the laps we did. We stopped a few times for pat breaks and a couple of times for impromptu rolling about in grass. Judging by his tail wags and happy demenour afterwards he was having fun.
So the experiment of letting Riley lead the way was pretty fun. We visited some nice areas and I think Riley liked the idea of leading the way and making destination decisions!
See you next time Riley…it’ll be my turn to lead …!
