Lost-Girl...

08.04.15 Lost girl…

Today, while I was walking with Scarlett and enjoying the sunset walk home, we found a lost staffy-girl. Scarlett was very patient and we said hello and tried to find her home.

Our new friend was walking all alone on a main cycleway and she even had a lead dragging behind her… and no owner jogging along trying to catch her! I asked Scarlett if we should say hello and she didn’t seem to mind. So we carefully said hello and the lil girl was very friendly and maybe a little bit lost.

There were no ID tags, a personalized collar or anything to tell me who she was or where she lived. All I knew was she was a mum recently … so there must be a few family members missing her!

I took Scarlett home and then loaded lil staffy-girl into the pet taxi and we drove off hoping to catch one of the Vets in Bathurst that might be still open… we did pass one, but no lights we on and we were lucky enough to have the staff at Stewart Street Vets, still there (we were very lucky as it was very after hours!)

So we checked lost girl for a microchip, which she had, and luckily enough, she was a patient at the vets, so we were able to locate her home but not a current Phone number.

I was happy to take her home, but if no one was there or the address wasn’t current…we’d have to take her to the pound…I wasn’t very happy about that, but without ID we would have had no choice.

It ended up being the correct address and lost-girls family were very glad to see her returned.

The whole thing…Thanks to the very Friendly staff at Stewart Street Vets, didn’t take too long and we lucked out that lost-girl was a patient there.

So please everyone, tell your friends and neighbours that having a microchip and a tag or a collar that’s personalized is so so important in getting your fur-family member home again…

There are some people out there…like me…that actually want to see your family member back home all safe and sound as quickly as possible.
