10.04.15 Diesel
Diesel and I just did lap, after lap of the riverside walk today. It was a very pleasant way to spend a Friday afternoon.
Diesel and I loaded up and headed for the park by the river today. I was thinking it would be a nice way to practice keeping nice and calm along the way. The walkway is very well used and you will always meet at least some other walkers if not some other fur-friends.
Diesel has been doing really well off lead and he does so well with just the two of us and no distractions, but with people and puppies, he could get too excited. Though, by the end of all the laps I was almost tempted to let him off lead just for him to practice… but I think we’ll hold off on such a big challenge.
What we did do though, was have a great walk on slack leads and a few close heels as we crossed a narrow bridge that was busy today. On the first pass it was a bit scary having so many cars go by so close, but we have both walked along one of the busier roads and he always does so well.
One one of the laps we went down to the river for a bit of a paddle. Diesel wasn’t so keen on getting his feet wet today. He was watching some ducks on the other river bank. So I guess he was happy enough with that!
Along the way we met with an old fur-friend of mine and his mum out for a walk. We had a quick hello and off we went again. It’s so nice hanging with Diesel and especially when he is so relaxed, sniffing after ducks, walking along the grassy river-bank and enjoying himself.
Its funny watching him when we do our taxi ride home…he sits back, and sometimes lays down (not for long) and just chills. Good work today Diesel… see you again next week…have a great weekend.
