Diesel and I have been working very hard lately. Busy roads, lots of people and some recall and direction changes in open parks…very busy!

Today we pretty much had the park to ourselves as it was miserable weather really. All the smart people were at home or work drinking hot chocolate. We managed to pick a gap in the downpours and had fun exploring the park.

Diesel has been doing really well lately with his off lead work in very open spaces and I really wanted to try him out in the more well-used parks. We had done a lap and we got to a section where I could see anyone if they came along and could get Diesel before he got distracted!

I mentioned before that it was really nice to set Diesel free. We have a routine…he checks in with me and we explore the place! We walked up and down one side of the river several times and because we were off lead diesel probably covered half as much distance again!

He did so well. He still has a ways to go for 100% on his recall…Id give him a provisional 80% but he always came in when we changed direction… so for lil Diesel, that’s a pretty big accomplishment!

Next time its rainy and miserable we’ll be out there alone practicing our skills!
