24.04.15 Diesel
Today Diesel was in for a special treat. We headed to one of my favourite waterholes to see how much the river had come up.
I hadn’t been able to take any of my fur-friends to one of my favourite doggy swimming holes until recently. That was mainly because until recently I had no local dogs to go and explore with. In the past months though, some new team members have popped up and we got to take a peek.
I would love to take some of my regulars to have a look too… but I try and keep it local to my team members area. Diesel is one of the lucky ones that we have to drive away from his place as the number of dogs close by gets a bit hectic at times…so we go for a drive.
So today I packed diesel up to head to a nice walkway that provides a long narrow route that diesel can explore and keep relatively close. Hemmed in by a fenceline and the tall grass on the other side. It was a really nice choice and I think we will go there again. Having Diesel not wander too far and wide is good training.
Today we did a lot of direction changes and Diesel excelled at those. His recall was still less than perfect, but it was a new area, so there was lots to check-out!
There were only a few dogs and owners out when we were there, so Diesel did get to say hello to a couple of Dogs and also had to sit by and watch another couple. You just know its hard for Diesel to sit and wait…but he did try very hard.
I’m so glad I got to take Diesel to one of my favourite places…I think he appreciated it too!
