26.04.15 Phil
Phil and I put our jackets on and headed out into that Icy wind that was blowing earlier in the day.
Today, Phil and I started off a little earlier than we had planned. We were trying to get a jump on any rain that was coming our way. On the way to Phil’s place it did send down some mizzle…but barely enough to get the wipers going! So we decided to take our chances and head off.
Phil was very smart today, he wore a coat, for just in case it rained. What it did do though, was keep that icy wind that was blowing. I’m not one to let weather get the better of me too often, but at maybe the 1km mark I had to stop and put on my rain jacket to fend of the wind. Phil didn’t gloat or tell me, ‘..I told you so…!’ But I could see he was giggling at me by his tail wags!
Today Phil and I decided to do the one big loop from home. Doing this meant that as the crows fly we’d really not be too far from home so if it belted down with rain, we wouldn’t have to be out in it for too long. Plus Phils mum offered us a ride if we looked like we get too wet… so off we went with a plan B and a plan C!
Phil and I walked along a path beside a hilly road, and then cut across to one of the parks around the place. It has a very nice roadside cycleway with its stark trees having recently dropped their leaves so you know I was happy with the view. Phil was also happy to see a lot of pigeons. This first lot were in the tree above us…Phil could smell them but wasn’t quite sure where they were…but a big whoosh and the flapping of wings told us to look up!
We followed the Highway for a bit and Phil was looking high and low. It paid off several times and Phil saw them in the trees we passed by before I saw them… “…in Phil I trust”…when it comes to pigeons… though he does see false pigeons ocassionally…you know, leaves of sticks or some other pigeon pretending piece of paper!
We got to chase a few quite large groups of pigeons in another park. Usually Phil baulks when there are too many…but we were in there amongst them today! We also stumbled upon some in a garden hedge that took off so close to us there was pigeon down fluttering about… Phil definitely liked that.
We managed to avoid the rain, saw lots of pigeons, even got our feet muddy…well Phil did… but then he conveniently walked in a long puddle that washed the mud away… so we didn’t have to tell mum about that!
Good walking today Phil…and very good idea about the jacket…I’ll follow your lead next time!
