27.04.15 Diesel
Today Diesel and I set off for some more lead free work and play. As always of late, he’s doing well.
Diesel has recently moved (more of my team on the move) to a new home with his family so everything is new and exciting. Lots to see and explore for the first time. It was a bit overwhelming at first. All the new sights and sounds so we headed off to a small park and hung out there for a little while until we got our bearings
After lots of pats and scratches we headed for the big park we often get to for our lead free practice and play. So by the time we arrived at the park Diesel was almost his usual self. Over the past month or two, Diesel has become quite reliable in his off lead work, and although we were a bit out of sorts I let him off the lead in a nicely enclosed area along a cycleway.
Along the way we got to see some old friends the alpacas, the horses and some sheep, so I am sure Diesel remembers these guys from our walks from his old house.
The cycleway along this section of the park is very flat and follows the levee. There is one small laneway crossing so I put Diesel on the lead before and after the crossing. We walked up and down the cycleway and although he isn’t the greatest at recall, he gets 100% on recall when I turn my back and signal “this way” with my hand. He comes in with a high speed crash-landing…gets his pats and scratches and then he’s off again!
We did that a few times and it was time to head home. Diesel is progressing nicely and did very well to conquer being a little overwhelmed at all the new sights. Well done Diesel!
