27.04.15 Scarlett
Scarlett and I have been having some nice twilight walks lately. With the sun going down earlier for winter, it makes for some great sunsets.
Today we headed off for some swimming holes out along the cycleway. But first off we thought we’d take a peek at the river bank works that have been going on. Some heavy machinery has been removing weed and introduced species of vegetation for what I imagine will be quite the re-vegetation project. So that’s something Scarlett and I can keep an eye on.
So we followed the river for a while and joined the cycleway again near the bridge. This section of the cycleway is quite popular with those improving their fitness levels as the pathways has been measured and is just over 1.25 km one way. It’s nice and flat and is a very nice jogging corridor. If you wanted, you could cool your heels at two river access points and head home again. Great for families!
Scarlett and I checked out both the river access points and on the first one as we desended to the water maybe 20 ducks took to flight in a wave of flapping duck wings and honk of duck calls to each other. Sorry Guys! It did look like a cosy spot with the river levels being up lately. Scarlett didn’t seeme to mind the sudden take off and the noise they make. We both didn’t see them so it was a bit of a surprise
We continued off up to the second water hole and took a peek at that too. The water had risen to cover the nice little ankle deep riffle and the water stretched across the river bed now. After taking a peek at that waterhole we continued to the end of the walkway as it was just starting to get dark. So by the time we got home it would be using our night vision.
The walk home was very nice…the blue and purple haze in the skies as the light disappeared was very nice. Next walks I may have to bring my head lamp. I’m sure Scarlett is just fine. But you know…I’m getting old and clumsy!! We managed not to bump into too many walkers and joggers still out and about, and we arrived home with the front light on and were greeted by the family.
Have a great week Scarlett…hope to see you soon.
