02.05.15 Zoe and Joe
Today Zoe, Joe and I headed off along the levee for a nice casual walk.
Since Zoe and Joe’s move, we have been accessing the riverside walk to explore around and about the river. There are lots of people and Dogs and of coure the birdlife in particular the ducks and some new birds that they really like, cormorants! The past couple of walks we have slowed down by 1/3rd with all the goings on along the river!
Zoe and Joe haven’t been their usual calm selves of late. All those distractions, new sights, sounds and smells all combining to make things very exciting. I have said before that Zoe and Joe are great Dogs, they never bark or growl even when put under lots of pressure by barking and aggressive dogs. They remain calm, take a good look and we keep on moving. I am very proud of my Boxers!
So today I thought we’d have a nice casual walk along levees and cycleways and see how we went. As expected, with fewer distraction, we just scooted along and covered lots of ground. Its very interesting what a new area and all those sights and sounds, noisy neighbours and different smells can make to your Dogs demaenour.
We crossed a small bridge that a couple of my friends have baulked at on our first crossing. It has a grid with holes that if you look down you can see through it and the gully below. To my team of fur-friends, it would be very disconcerting the first time. Joe just forged on…I don’t think he looked down! Zoe did a slight double take but we walked on.
We followed the levee and we settled back into our usual walking mode…nice and quick yet still taking a peek around the place, smelling different scents and generally having fun along the way.
Zoe and Joe quickly recovered their normal ground crunching pace so it was great to have them back. I think we will take the river walk in smaller sections in future. Have a good walk as well as get to know the river walk.
Good walking today Zoe and Joe… well done!
