07.05.15 Billy
Billy and I did a pretty loopy walk today. Highway walking, back street shuffles, open park and investigating a watercourse. So it was pretty varied.
For some reason there is a lot of development around Bathurst? Good for the economy I guess, but sometimes we have to alter our paths while things are moving ahead. There is a big open parkland that a few families and their Dogs use. Billy and I use it to cut through to other parks and ovals. On todays walk there were fences up around some excavations that were going on.
It has been interesting to watch the excavations and try and guess what is going in. Billy doesn’t seem to mind though. I would like to think that an ornamental sediment pond is going in…its looking quite deep so who knows what it will be!
What we did find though…well Billy found it… was a crystal clear deep rut that was maybe 5m long and filled with water… I din’t see it really until Billy dragged me over to take a peek! So Billy got to have a splash about in chest deep water. You just know he had fun snapping at splashes and generally nose ploughing his way through the water.
We managed to drag ourselves away from the water and walked along the highway to one of the parks we sometimes walk through, but today we scooted along the bottom of the Hill and joined up with another roadside path. We followed that to join up with my “avenue of trees”, to a sediment pond and followed that to a watercourse.
The watercourse is another of my favourite places to walk. Although this one has lots of Dogs in yards, by this time Billy has had fun and isn’t so easily distracted by noisy neighbours. Plus in our meanderings, Billy found a ball that just couldn’t be left behind! It was a coulourful tennis ball made for Dogs, but it had a hole in it! But Billy was very entertained by the noise it made on crushing as well as the texture it had while collapsing in his jaws!
As we passed by his yard I threw the ball in and said he had a new toy to play with (if he remembered me throwing in it.! But when we finally made it home he bolted straight for where it landed and was off into playing with the ball, right where he had left off! He didn’t even wave me good bye when I left! Have a great weekend Billy!
