19.05.15 Billy
Today, it had been raining on and off, but I knew I could rely on my mate Billy to take a walk in rain or shine!
Even I wasn’t so keen on heading outside today, but I know Billy likes his walks whether its sun-shiny or rain-cloudy. As it turned out it was only a 3-4 shake rainy walk! I judge how wet and miserable it is by the number of wet-coat-shakes my team members take.
One shake here and there… is a light mizzle… two shakes in a trip, is a bit of a drizzle, three or four shakes is some steady rain… after the 4th shake…I head home… no matter who it is… no need to be soaked!
No-one has ever complained or ever had the shakes or anything so I think the number of shakes rule is a good guide!
Billy, despite his soft gooey centre, is quite a tough-nut. He loves water at the best of times and rain just means more puddles to jump and splash in… so he quite likes the rain!
Somehow we only managed to jump in a few puddles today. The rain wasn’t too heavy to cause too much runoff and make puddles…though the gutters we crossed had water in them, so Billy walked in those and at least got his feet soggy!
We basically followed pathways and grassy patches to try and keep our feet relatively dry. I had built up a bit of a sweat inside my rain jacket so I had to get rid of a layer and off we went again. Billy is always patient with my stops and doesn’t seem to mind the camera pic pit stops. I’m sure he does a pose and then says …alright lets go…
We walked in a nice loop that took in a couple of alleyways, the main cycleway, off around one of the sides of a sports ground, down some back streets, crossed another pathway and water course I like then off up to a water tank, more alleyways and home. Billy and I have covered a lot of ground together (About 360km!), so a little walk in the rain isn’t too much for us!
Always good to see you Billy…let’s see if we can stay dry on the next one…
