07.06.15 Phil
Today, Phil and I went to take a look at the new big pond by the highway!
If you have been driving along the highway or along one of our main roads, you may have been watching the hole in the ground getting bigger and bigger, and the tallus heap getting bigger and bigger. I call it “the pond” coz that sounds better than a big hole!
Wasn’t today freezing!? Even when I went to get Phil in the late morning the mist was still thick and the blanket of cold was sagging over us in the river corridor. I had the heater on full and lights on as were other motorists…but when I got to Phils place the sun was out and blue skies surrounded us!
We didn’t need any coats by the time we started, and I even took off a layer, so we were ready to rocket and warm up as quick as we could. Right from the beginning, Phill was treated to a small group of pigeons, so he was happy with that, and that was in the first 100 metres!
We continued off up the hill and then scooted along the saddle, seeing more pigeons and we even scared off some rosellas that were very very close to us. I think we both ducked! Phil spied some more pigeons so he was very excited…even letting me know how happy he was with a ‘…rooowwrr rowr!’ It was pretty cool we had been treated to lots of birds today… and we were only ¼ of the way out!
We crossed the road and followed the “levee” with the roadside tree glade. Its very nice in there. We also passed by some very noisy puppies. They were so loud and making all kinds of noise and howling that Phil stopped to see who was making such a ruckas. We stopped and watched them for a while… Phil just went ‘…pffft…lets go…! They were just jealous is all Phil!
So we made it to the pond and it looks like its pretty much done…all we need now, is some water! Our very own swimming hole…! But I bet there will be a sign…no swimming allowed!?
We backtracked our way home and saw more pigeons! I was too tired to chase them but Phil was keen…so he danced about at the end of the lead as I plodded along!
Good walking again today Phil…you have clocked up over 260km! Wow!
